So I just wanted to start by saying welcome! It's the second month of 2012 and it's about time I started my own blog. I'll be using this blog to write about the different experiences I've had in the holistic health care field and also different tid bits and pointers I can offer that will help everyone reach or maintain their optimal health. I look forward to receiving any and all feedback and to the future discussions we will share.

For my first post I wanted to simply encourage everyone to stick to their New Year's resolutions hat you may or may not have made. The New Year brings a fresh start, a new beginning and we all make promises to ourselves to stop bad habits, start new positive habits or make some sort of significant change that will bring positive energy into our lives. We often start out very strong and dedicated, but come March and April we start to fizzle out (I have been sooo guilty of this in the past). Let's NOT do that in 2012! Let's finish what we start this time. Some ideas to help you stay on task:

1) Positive affirmations- post them on the bathroom mirror, your dresser, the refrigerator or even the toilet. The point is you want to put them in places you frequent (so the toilet is ideal for me...oh sorry TMI)

2) Keep a Journal- You'll be surprised how great this actually works. Especially with a food or exercise journal. It's a great way to hold yourself accountable for your actions and can also serve as a source of motivation. Seeing that you stuck with your exercise routine or maintained healthy eating habits for the past few days always feels good!

3) Meditate, Meditate and Meditate some more- You ever notice in Star Wars that every scene with Yoda starts with him meditating, and sure enough he's the baddest dude in the Universe! Meditation works my friends. I can only imagine that if Yoda didn't Meditate he would be a 3' obese Jedi with high blood pressure and/or diabetes and could no longer feel the Force. But seriously, Meditation allows your body and mind to reset, recharge and escape the rigamuroo of the world if only for a few moments. I will definitely be speaking more on the benefits of meditation in the future.

So there you go. I wish you all good luck and energy with your New Year's resolutions. Any questions, comments or suggestions are always welcome. Until next time stay healthy my friends.

Yours in Health & Wellness,

Kessonga K. Giscombe´, MS, L.Ac

todayacupuncturewellness.com

(919)451-4102
